He became interested in music at an early age, becoming the winner of a talent show at the age of three and a half by performing a Michael Jackson song. At the age of eight, his family moved to Orlando, Florida, where he took guitar, dance and piano lessons. The following year he started collaborating with the production and songwriting group Full Force, before at 10 he signed a deal with Motown Records, becoming the youngest recording artist ever signed to the label. His song “Mouse in the House” was included on the soundtrack of the 1999 film “Stuart Little”, and not long after, he started taking guitar lessons under the tutelage of Johan Oiested, a musician in Carlos Santana’s rhythm section.

During this time, O’Donis also pursued an acting career, landing the role of Diego in the television series “Grandpa’s Garage”. He would eventually appear in the live action sitcom “Ned’s Declassified School Survival Guide” and in the horror film “The Pig People”. Even at this age, Colby’s net worth was well established.

After his father purchased him his first production studio when he was 12, O’Donis began opening local Florida shows for the likes of major artists such as the Backstreet Boys, Britney Spears, Brian McKnight, Ne-Yo and 98°. At 15, his family moved to Los Angeles, where he became involved in Genuine Music Group, and started collaborating on producing an LP album. His net worth began to rise.

In 2006 he met the acclaimed artist Akon, who was impressed with him, and the two immediately began collaborating, producing a number of songs together. The album contains the single “What You Got” featuring Akon, which earned O’Donis a Favorite Newcomer award, reaching #14 on the Hot 100. His popularity was boosted, plus increasing his net worth considerably.

The same year he collaborated with Lady Gaga on her debut single “Just Dance”, the lead single from her debut studio album, “The Fame”.
