Clifton Powell Wiki Biography
An actor and comedian, Clifton Powell was born on 16 March 1956 in Washington D.C. USA. He is best known for playing the role of hilarious Pinky in the 2000 comedy “Next Friday”, as well as its 2002 sequel “Friday After Next”.
So just how rich is Clifton Powell? Sources estimate that Powell has accumulated a net worth of over $500,000 most of it clearly accumulated during his acting career now spanning over 35 years.
Powell has been a familiar face in the film industry for many years. He graduated from Emerson College in Boston, Massachusetts, with a BSc in Speech and Education, and started his acting career at Workshops for Careers in the Arts, a professional program training young artists. He appeared on small screens in the early 90’s, his standout roles of the time being seen in movies such as “In The Heat of the Night” and “Deep Cover”, as well as his memorable parts as a volatile heavy in movies such as the classics “Menace II Society” and “Dead Presidents”. Another famous movie Powell took part in was the 1998 action comedy “Rush Hour”, and not to forget his thoughtful portrayal of Martin Luther King Jr. in “Selma, Lord, Selma”. His later roles in 2000 movies such as “The Brothers”, “Lockdown”, “Civil Brand”, and “Never Die Alone” were remarkable, adding considerably to actor’s net worth.
Powell received particular attention from audiences playing Pinky, an outrageous, old-school gangster in the urban comedy “Next Friday” and sequel “Friday After Next”. Also, his role as a road manager of legendary blues singer Ray Charles in the 2004 Oscar-winning film “Ray” made it obvious that Powell was on the verge of breaking into the big-time. In addition to appearing in such a great movies, he has also done voice over work on the popular video game “Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas”, in which he voiced the character of Melvin Harris (Big Smoke). In 2007 we saw Powell in “Norbit” with Eddie Murphy, then in 2009 he played Bowman in “Just Another Day” and he starred in an Indie thriller “Chain Letter” in the same year.
Powell’s career now includes over 50 movies through which the actor has acquired his wealth. His acting history also includes various television shows – “South Central”, “Roc”, “House”, “Law and Order”, “CSI: Crime, Scene and Investigation”, “Army Wives” to name just a few.
Powell has proved himself as a successful actor, however, his personal life has seen some controversy, in 2013 charged for sexual assault against a woman in Louisiana, who had claimed that the actor raped her in 2011. Eventually the Federal Court Judgment later declared the actor guilty and awarded the woman $153,095.50 for the physical and emotional damage she had suffered, however, the actor has not paid the retribution, claiming that the woman falsely accused him and that he will be taking legal action against her.
Clifton Powell is married to Kimberly Powell.
