Christopher Stephen Botti was born on the 12th October 1962 in Portland, Oregon USA, and is a musician, saxophonist best known for his breakout album “Night Sessions” (2001). His career started in 1990.

Although born in Portland, Chris spent his childhood in Corvallis, Oregon, and also lived a couple of years in Italy. His mother had a great influence on Chris in his early years, since she was a trained pianist and taught piano to other student, so encouraging him towards music, and young Chris took a trumpet in his hands first time when he was nine years old. Three years later he committed to the instrument when he heard the song “My Funny Valentine” performed by Miles Davis. While in high school he was a part of the All American High School Jazz band, which brought him his first Carnegie Hall appearance, and in his senior year he enrolled at Mount Hood Community College, convincing high school officials to allow him to complete his remaining senior year there. While studying at Mount Hood, Chris met and befriended Todd Field, future trombonist and filmmaker.
After his matriculation, Chris enrolled at Indiana University School of Music, where he trained under jazz educator David Baker and trumpet professor Bill Adam. However, Chris left University in his senior year and ventured on a tour with Frank Sinatra and Buddy Rich. His next career move was finding place in New York and making his way into the jazz music scene of the Big Apple. He firstly worked as a studio musician, but after five long years he struck up a friendship with Paul Simon, and toured with him for the next ten years, which brought the attention of other musicians who started seeking Botti to be their session or touring musician. Some of them included Joni Mitchell, Natalie Cole, Bette Midler, Roger Daltrey, Aretha Franklin among many others, which certainly increased his net worth and popularity, thanks to which, in the late ‘90s he was called up by Sting and ventured on a tour with him, which resulted in the DVD “All This Time” (2001).
Chris also embarked on a solo career, and in 1995 released his first studio album, called “First Wish”. However, it wasn’t as popular as Chris hoped it would be, but nevertheless he continued to record music. Until the end of the ‘90s he didn’t have much success on his own, but that all changed in 2001 when he released “Night Sessions” through Columbia Records. The album reached No. 4 on the US Jazz chart, and he continued in the same rhythm with albums “December” (2002), and “A Thousand Kisses Deep” (2003). His first No. 1 album was the 2004 “When I Fall in Love”, and through 2012 when his last studio album came out, he recorded three more No. 1 albums, “To Love Again: The Duets” (2005), “Italia” (2007), and “Impressions” (2012), all of which certainly increased further his net worth.
Regarding his personal life, Chris isn’t married, however, he is known for his high-profile relationships. In the past he had dated Katie Couric, Lisa Gastineau and Brandi Glanville.
