Charlie Strong Wiki Biography

Born Charles Rene Strong on the 2nd August 1960 in Batesville, Arkansas USA, Charlie is a retired American Football player, and current head coach of the South Florida Bulls. Previously, he was the head coach of the Louisville Cardinals (2010-2013), and Texas Longhorns (2014-2016).

Have you ever wondered how rich Charlie Strong is, as of mid- 2017? According to authoritative sources, it has been estimated that Strong’s net worth is as high as $15 million, an amount earned through his successful career in the American Football, which has been active ever since the early ‘80s.

Charlie is the son of Delois Ramsey and Charles Strong; his parents never married and he has five siblings through his mother. After high school, Charlie enrolled at the University of Central Arkansas where he played football as a defensive back. His next stop was the University of Florida where he served as a graduate assistant on the coaching staff. Then in 1985, he was appointed as a graduate assistant at Texas A&M, and just before moving to Southern Illinois to work as a wide receivers coach, Charlie received a master’s degree from Henderson State University, rounding off his education.

He stayed as wide receivers coach at the Southern Illinois until 1987, and then switched several universities and coaching positions until 1999, when he was appointed as defensive coordinator for the South Carolina Gamecocks. He stayed in South Carolina until 2002, when the Florida Gator offered him their defensive coordinator position. After a season as defensive coordinator, in 2004 he was promoted to the interim head coach position since Gators’ head coach Ron Zook was fired in mid- 2004 season. However, Ron remained in his position until the Peach Bowl game, when Charlie took over, but the Gators lost to the Miami Hurricanes 27:10. For the next season, Urban Meyer became the new head coach, and Charlie reverted to assistant head coach and co-defensive coordinator. He stayed in Florida until 2010, when the University of Louisville recruited him as the head coach of the Louisville Cardinals. In four years with the Cardinals, Charlie won the Beef ‘O’ Brady Bowl in 2010, Sugar Bowl in 2012, and Russell Athletic Bowl in 2013. He won the Big East Coach of the Year two times, in 2010, and 2012 for his successful efforts with the Cardinals.

After the Cardinals, he signed a contract with the University of Texas to become the head coach of the Texas Longhorns. The contract was worth $5 million per year, which increased Strong’s net worth to a large degree. Unfortunately, he didn’t have much success with the Longhorns, as all three seasons were losing ones, and in 2016 he was fired.

Charlie was without engagement only fifteen days as he received a contract offer from the University of South Florida to become the head coach of the South Florida Bulls. He is now awaiting his debut in the 2017 season.

Regarding his personal life, Charlie has been married to Victoria Marie Lovallo since 1995; the couple has three children together.
