Charlie Benante was born on 27th November 1962 in New York City, USA and is a musician and drummer, probably best known as a member of thrash metal band Anthrax. Besides drums, he plays the guitar and keyboard, and is a music producer. Benante is one of the fathers of blastbeat, a very fast drumming technique. Charlie has been active in the entertainment industry since 1982.

Charlie is known for having a very fast double-bass technique and has been credited as one of the pioneers of using Blast Beats in thrash metal, in addition to possessing a great rebound technique.
