Chad started earning popularity when he formed the band New Found Glory, which started in the mid- to late-1990s as a high school band. They recorded their debut EP in 1997 entitled “It’s All About the Girls”, which was distributed independently. They started touring the East Coast, and would gain a lot of popularity underground. Eventually, they made their debut album “Nothing Gold Can Stay” in 1999, which was successful and led them to a record deal with Drive-Thru records, increasing their net worth significantly. They released an EP of cover songs, and then their debut single “Hit or Miss”. The band started becoming popular with mainstream audiences, and it led to their second album “New Found Glory” in 2000, which was certified gold. They went on tour with Blink-182 and Green Day, and found success once again with “Sticks and Stones”. In 2004, they released “Catalyst” which also found some success, hitting third spot on the Billboard 200.

They tried their hand at producing different types of sounds, more focused on matured songwriting, gaining praise from critics with their fifth album “Coming Home”, considered one of their most mature works. They then released “From the Screen to Your Stereo Part II’ and “Not Without a Fight”, before in 2010 returning to their roots of pop punk in releasing “The Story So Far”.

During this time, Gilbert had to have part of his thyroid removed – the surgery was successful and they continued to tour, increasing their net worth as well. They released their seventh album “Radiosurgery” before going on a break, returning in 2014 and releasing “Resurrection”. They are currently working on the album “Makes Me Sick”.

Recently, Chad has been working on record production. He’s helped in projects such as “Nothing to Prove’ by H2O, and recent albums by A Day to Remember. He also tried his hand at releasing solo material online for free, including demos under the name “What’s Eating Gilbert”.

For his personal life, it is known that Chad married Sherri DuPree of the rock band Eisly in 2007, but they eventually divorced in the same year. He married Paramore lead vocalist Hayley Williams in 2016, having been together since 2008. He’s also reported to be living a straight edge lifestyle as inspired by H2O songs during his teens.
