Babyface Wiki Biography

Babyface is an American singer, songwriter, composer and music producer with a net worth 170 million dollars. He is one of the most successful R&B singers in the world and definitely one of the richest celebrities. But even though Babyface is a very singer, he is arguably even more accomplished writer and producer and naturally his net worth consists largely of his income from these activities. Toni Braxton, among others, is grateful to his record label for her success in the late 80’s. In later years Babyface worked and still works with numerous popular singers, including Beyoncé, Kanye West, Lil Wayne, Whitney Houston, Michael Jackson, Madonna, Diana Ross and many others.

Babyface was born as Kenneth Edmonds in 1959 in Indianapolis, Indiana, USA. Kenneth has five brothers, two of which also turned into music. Babyface began making music when he was a teenager, at the time writing songs and singing was a sort of self expression for him since he was otherwise a shy boy. The first step in his career became his performance with Bootsy Collins who was the one to come up with a nickname “Babyface”. While still a teenager Kenneth also started to play in “The Delee”, an R&B band with which he stayed until 1988. In the 80’s he also debuted as a songwriter but his breakthrough towards a real success came with the establishment of his own record label in 1988. The label proved to be a very successful venture which increased Babyface net worth significantly. Three artists signed with the label turned out to be an instant success and earned millions of dollars for Babyface. These were Toni Braxton, whose first album got her a Grammy Award in 1993, one of the most successful girl group ever TLC, and an R&B artist Usher who is very popular to this day.

Among the songs and albums Babyface produced and wrote for numerous famous singers are many number one hits. Examples include Whitney Houston’s “I’m your baby tonight”, Boyz II Men’s “I’ll Make Love to You” and “End of the Road”, Madonna’s album “Bedtime Stories”, Eric Clapton’s “Change the World”. These and other Babyface’s accomplishments not only added millions of dollars to his net worth, but also earned him three “Producer of the Year” Grammys in 1995, 1996 and 1997. Babyface is considered to be one of the major figured in a pop music world of the 90’s but he is still active today. Some of Edmond’s recent works as a producer include Monica’s album “Still Standing”, Ashanti’s “The Declaration” and Ariana Grande’s 2013 debut album “Truly Yours”.

Babyface net worth comes not only from writing and producing for other artists, but also from his own music. Since 1986 he has released 9 solo albums and a collaboration album with Toni Braxton, and has established himself as a well known R&B singer.

Besides music, Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds is also involved in film industry. In 1997 together with his (now former) wife Tracey Edmonds he established a film production company “Edmonds Entertainment Group”.
