Aventura Wiki Biography

Aventura was an American band founded in 1993 in The Bronx, New York City USA, by Anthony ‘Romeo’ Santos, Henry Santos, Max Santos and Lenny Santos. It is best known for its 2004 hit single “Obsession”.

A legendary group, how rich is Aventura now? According to sources, Aventura has collected a fortune of over $4 million, as of early 2017. Its net worth has been amassed through its involvement in music.

Anthony Santos, the lead singer and the songwriter of Aventura, was born on 21 July 1981, in The Bronx, of Dominican and Puerto Rican ancestry. His music career started at the age of 12, singing in the church choir. His cousin Henry Santos, the group’s singer, songwriter and producer, was born on 15 December 1979, in Moca, Dominican Republic, and moved to The Bronx when he was 13. The group’s bassist, Max Santos, was born on 30 January, 1982, in the South Bronx, also of Dominican descent. He learned to play bass during his teenage years. Lenny Santos, the guitarist, was born on 24 October 1979, in The Bronx, of Dominican background. He also served as the band’s musical producer.

In the early ’90s, the Santos boys began creating music with a desire to break the Dominican bachata music out from its traditional base, incorporating other styles of music into it, mainly hip-hop and R&B. They were discovered by artist promoter Elvin Polanco, who was supposed to work with them on their way to success. However, due to health issues, Polanco forwarded them to another promoter, Julio César García. Under the name Los Tinelles, the group went on to record their music, mixing hispanic cultural roots with bachata sound and several other musical styles, in order to separate themselves from the classic bachata. Instead of using the usual bachata song topics such as sadness and bitterness, they began to use various others, such as love and seduction. After releasing their debut album “Trampa De Amor” in 1995 as Los Tinelles, their first album as Aventura came out in 2000, entitled “Generation Next”. Two years later, their album “We Broke the Rules” was released, containing the single “Obsession” which became a huge hit, first among Latin youth, and then among worldwide audiences. It dominated numerous charts and founded a strong crossover into hip-hop, making the band extremely popular. Their success considerably added to their net worth.

The following year Aventura released their third album, “Love & Hate”. Their next project, the album titled “God’s Project”, followed in 2005, elevating their success and reinforcing their popularity with the single “Ella Y Yo”, which became a top ten hit on the Billboard Hot Latin Songs chart. Nine more top ten hits followed, cementing Aventura’s popularity and greatly increasing their wealth.

Their fifth and final album, “The Last”, was released in 2009. It reached #1 on the Latin Billboard chart and #5 on the Billboard 200 albums chart, becoming the top selling Latin album of that year and increasing the group’s fortune. Aside from studio albums, Aventura also released three live albums in the meantime.

The band split up in 2011; whereas Romeo and Henry became solo performers, Max and Lenny founded a new band called Grupo Vena with Steve Styles. They briefly reunited in 2015, announcing a series of concerts which they held in 2016 in New York City.

When speaking about the personal lives of Aventura’s members, sources lack any information about them.
