Wojcicki was born on 28 July 1973, in San Mateo County, California USA, of Polish, American and Jewish descent, and is an entrepreneur, best known for being the chief executive officer (CEO) of the personal genomics company, 23andMe. She is also the co-founder of the company and has been active with the company since 2006; all of her efforts have helped put her net worth to where it is today.

She went on to study biology at Yale, and also played on the varsity women’s ice hockey team, but was also still a competitive ice skater during this time. Wojcicki went on to work as a part of the investment fund Passport Capital, in which she served as a health care consultant. She also worked at Investor AB, in which she was a health care investment analyst, working for four years, and focusing on biotechnology companies. She decided to quit in 2000, after becoming disillusioned by the attitude of Wall Street towards the health care sector. She initially wanted to enroll in medical school, but later decided to focus on research. In 2006 she founded the personal genomics and biotechnology company called 23andMe, alongside Linda Avey. The company is named after the 23 pairs of chromosomes in a normal human sell, and provides genetic testing. They released a personal genome test kit which was featured by Time magazine in 2008, and became the first company to offer autosomal DNA testing for ancestry. As the company found a lot of success, her net worth also increased significantly. Wojcicki is also a member of the Xconomy editorial team, the Xconomists; she was named The Most Daring CEO by Fast Company in 2013.
For her personal life, it is known that Anne married Google co-founder Sergey Brin in 2007, and they had two children together before the marriage ended in divorce in 2015. Anne’s sisters are Susan Wojcicki, the CEO of YouTube, and Janet Wojcicki, an anthropologist.
