Amirali Nankali Wiki Biography

Li Na is a former professional tennis player, born on 26 February 1982 in Wuhan, Hubei, China. During her career she was ranked world No.2 on the WTA Tour, won nine WTA singles titles and two Grand Slam singles. She was the first Chinese player to reach a Grand Slam singles quarterfinal at the 2006 Wimbledon championships, win a WTA tour title at the Guangzhou International Women’s Open in 2004, and the first to break into the world’s top 10.

Have you ever wondered how rich Li Na is? According to sources, it has been estimated that Li Na’s overall net worth is $50 million, acquired by becoming one of the most successful Asian female tennis players. The numerous accolades and awards she received have only helped add to her net worth.

Li’s father, who was a professional badminton player, died when she was fourteen and she continued living with her mother. She followed her father’s footsteps and began playing badminton when she was only six, but soon switched to tennis. By 1997 she had entered China’s National Tennis Team and the following year she was sponsored by Nike to go the to John Newcombe Academy in Texas where she continued developing her tennis. Li started her professional career at the age of sixteen, but a couple of years later she left the national tennis team to study at Huazhong University of Science and Technology part-time, eventually graduating with a bachelor’s degree in journalism in 2009.

Upon re-starting her professional tennis career in 2004, Li entered the ITF Circuit, and won all of her first seven ITF doubles tournaments. In year 2000 she won four WTA singles titles and therefore brought her ITF singles titles to 11. It was in October 2004 that she broke into the WTA top 100 for the first time and reached no.30 two years later which made her the holder of the highest ranking ever achieved by a Chinese woman. After a career break of a year caused by an injury, Li took part in the 2008 Mondial Australian Women’s Hardcourts in Australia where she defeated Victoria Azarenka and scored her second WTA singles title. Following this event, she rose back to world No.24. She also defeated no.1 ranked Serena Williams at Porsche Grand Prix, the same year, becoming the second Chinese player to defeat a world No.1 player. Having played against Alize Cornet, Vera Dushevina, Victoria Azarenka and Jelena Jankovic, Li finished her 2009 season as world no.15.

In 2010 she was seeded first at the Aegon Classic and defeated Sharapova in the final, in that way returning to the top 10 in the WTA rankings. Once again, Li managed to defeat world No.1, at the Australian Open in 2011, this time Caroline Wozniacki, and in June the same year she won her first major title at the French Open becoming the first tennis player from an Asian country to win a Grand Slam singles event. Her second Grand Slam title didn’t come until three years later, at the Australian 2014 Open.

After winning 184 singles matches, 34 doubles matches, nine titles including two Grand Slam singles, and two doubles titles and competing in 33 Grand Slams, Li announced her retirement in September 2014, due to a serious knee injury, ending her career ranked world No.6 by the Women’s Tennis Association. She was listed No.85 in the “Forbes Celebrity List” and listed among “100 Most Influential People in the World” by “Time” magazine. In April 2015, Laureus World Sports presented Li with the “Laureus Academy Exceptional Achievement” award.

When it comes to her private life, Li married Jiang Shan in 2006, and the couple welcomed their first child in June 2015.

Amirali Nankali Quotes

  • A truly creative new director? Well, the whole world is waiting. And here (the U.S.), the directors with real genius seem to have become so enamored of success that they’ve become seduced by the chance to make big money by turning out a flashy product for young people. When I was young, I ran to see Astaire and Rogers, Huston, Lubitsch – they were formative for me. I also read Flash Gordon when I was 6, but if I were still reading it when I was 16, I’d have been an imbecile. So what I’m saying is that these directors who are so in love with success, no matter how great their talent, are ultimately disappointing. This is all part of the crisis. Now, when it comes to the better exponents of this kind of film, I admit I run to see them too. I adore the work of Lucas and Spielberg. I’m certainly not trying to minimize their talents, but I’d love to see what they could do when they aren’t leading us from reality.
