Have you ever wondered how rich Adrian Smith is, as of late 2016? According to authoritative sources, it has been estimated that Smith’s net worth is as high as $60 million, an amount earned through his successful career in music. In addition to being a highly popular guitarist, Smith is also a backing vocalist and songwriter, and these have improved his wealth too.

Adrian Smith was the youngest child of his decorator father, and grew up in Clapton, London with his older brother, Patrick, and sister, Kathleen. He became interested in rock music at the age of 15 when he bought his first album, Deep Purple’s “Machine Head”. Smith befriended the Iron Maiden guitarist Dave Murray, and the two of them founded the group called Stone Free, with Murray on guitar, Smith doing vocals, and Dave McCloughlin playing the bongos. Smith stated that his favorite guitarists were Johnny Winter and Pat Travers, and that he was more influenced by blues rock than metal.

Smith left school at 16 and formed the band called Evil Ways with Dave Murray, but later renamed it Urchin. He stayed with Urchin until their demise in 1980, and was part of three studio albums: “Black Leather Fantasy” (1977), “She’s A Roller” (1977), and “Urchin” (2004). After passing an audition to join Iron Maiden, Smith debuted on a German TV show, and was a part of the band’s “Killers” album in 1981. That was Iron Maiden’s second studio album and the last with former vocalist Paul Di’Anno who was sacked due to his alcohol and cocaine problems. The album sold over a million copies, and reached No. 78 on the Billboard 200, and No. 12 on the UK Official Albums Chart.

In 1982, they released “The Number of the Beast”, their first album with vocalist Bruce Dickinson, and last with late drummer, Clive Burr. The album achieved platinum status in both USA and the UK, and peaked at No. 33 on the Billboard 200 while topping the Official Albums Chart in the United Kingdom. Their next release “Piece of Mind” (1983) also achieved platinum status, and reached their best-ever No. 14 place on the Billboard 200 chart. By the end of the 80’s, Iron Maiden had recorded three more studio albums: “Powerslave” (1984), “Somewhere in Time” (1986), and “Seventh Son of a Seventh Son” (1989), the sales of which added a lot to Adrien`s net worth.

Smith left the band in 1990, replaced by sy Janick Gers, and in 1992 he formed The Untouchables that would later be named Psycho Motel. The band released two studio albums: “State of Mind” in 1995 and “Welcome to the World” in 1997. Smith joined Bruce Dickinson in his solo career, and later they rejoined Iron Maiden in 1999, since when the band has recorded five more albums: “Brave New World” (2000), which was sold over 500,000 copies worldwide, “Dance of Death” (2003), “A Matter of Life and Death” (2006), “The Final Frontier” (2010), and “The Book of Souls” (2015), increasing further Adrian’s net worth.

Adrian Smith Quotes

  • I’ve been playing with Bruce for two years and did two albums with him. We’re getting back into doing some real heavy stuff. A lot of the people were saying, “you guys are teamed up, when are you going to get back together with the Maiden guys?” From day one when I started playing with Bruce, people were saying this. At the time, my thought was that this was very unlikely to happen. But, down the line, the rumors seemed to get stronger, and Rod Smallwood, Maiden’s manager, contacted me and asked me if I would be interested in doing a tour. I said “oh yeah, I’d love to do it”, and then we started talking about a new album, which was real bonus. I mean, I would’ve loved to just do the tour, but doing a new album, I think it’s going to be great. So that’s how it came about, really. It just felt real natural, you know. Blaze was going to leave Maiden, and they were going to be looking for a new lead singer. I guess they thought of Bruce first off. There you have it, really.
