Adina Howard, born on the 14th of November, 1973, is an American singer and actress who became famous for her songs “Freak Like Me”, “What’s Love Got To Do With It?” and “T-Shirt and Panties”.
So how much is Howard’s net worth? As of early 2017, based on authoritative sources it is reported to be $1.5 million acquired from her years as a singer and an actress, in a career which began in the mid-‘90s.
Born in Grand Rapids, Michigan, Howard broke into the music world in 1995 when she released her album “Do You Wanna Ride?”, which immediately became a chart-topper thanks largely to her single “Freak Like Me” that became one of most iconic songs. The album became certified gold and was followed with other hit singles “It’s All About You” and “My Up and Down”. Her net worth was well established.
That same year, Howard worked with artist Warren G and recorded the song “What’s Love Got to Do With It” that was included on the soundtrack of the movie “Police Story 3: Super Cop”. The song also became a hit, and made her one of the top R&B singers of the’90’s. The sales of her album and popularity of her songs helped launched her career and added to her net worth.
After two years, in 1997 Howard prepared for her next album “Welcome to Fantasy Island”. The album received okay reviews, although never officially released. Years later, the album was leaked onto the internet and became a collector’s item among her fans, selling for a huge amount on eBay.
Despite the album not being officially released, one of the songs in it entitled “T-Shirt & Panties” a song she did with Jamie Foxx became a hit and was included on the soundtrack of the movie “Woo”.
During the early 2000’s, Howard also ventured into the world of film and was included in the independent film “High Freakquency” in which she worked with John Witherspoon and Deon Richmond. Later in 2002, she filmed another movie entitled “Casanova’s Demise” with director Tigre Hill. Her movie projects also helped with her career and her wealth.
In 2004, she came back to singing and released her third album “The Second Coming” but it performed poorly in sales and on the charts partly due to lack of promotion. She followed it with another album in 2007 entitled “Private Show” but that also did not perform well.
Howard decided to stay away from music for a while, and to study culinary arts. In 2012 she graduated from Le Cordon Bleu and took home a degree in Associates in Culinary Arts. After a year she also came up with her fifth album “The Switch Up”, which slightly gained traction, earning positive reviews and even winning an award at the 2013 UB Honors.
